And cereal hasn't been a viable option over the last few years due to a developing lactose intolerance issue. And having one's gall bladder removed only exacerbates the issue. Therefore, no milk.
But now that I'm going to the gym in the morning, what are the options for an easy breakfast?
Up first, Jimmy Dean's!
Yesterday, my wife was kind enough, and supportive of my latest endeavor, to get something that might be a healthy alternative.
Jimmy Deans, ye maker of fine, microwaveable biscuits, has an English muffin line out. I have the English muffin turkey sausage "sandwich." Unfortunately, the packaging has been tossed, but thanks to the world wide web, I'm able to glean their nutritional information from the website. That Jimmy Dean guy is smart.
This label is from the English muffin with turkey sausage, cheese, and egg sandwich versus my selection, of just turkey sausage. Although the fat calories are a bit high, the overall calories, only 260, is quite impressive.
To contrast, a regular Jimmy Deans biscuit with pork sausage, egg, and cheese has 420 calories, with 260 fat calories. And the English muffin alternative has 5 more grams of protein, along with 5% more iron. For those counting carbs, it's a wash. 28 grams of carbs with the healthier sandwich, versus 30 grams with the regular biscuit. Still, the English muffin turkey sausage has the advantage.
And five days without soda.
Also, for a number of reasons, I've switched gyms, which also means using a different scale. One can only hope that they're both calibrated the same. Anyway, this mornings weigh-in was 286.5, which is my lowest weight since I've started tracking it back in August.
