Something strange is happening. I've noticed recently that my body seems to be getting hungrier before lunch than it used to. Let me explain. I don't have my lunch break until 12 noon, which is completely normal. But I seem to be getting hungry about 10:30ish. This didn't happen when I went to the gym in the afternoon. Why so?
My morning workout usually consists of 30 minutes on an elliptical, do a few reps on weight machines for arms and shoulders, then hit the treadmill for few minutes, usually about 5 to 10. And I eat breakfast when I get to work. So it's only about 2 1/2 - 3 break between breakfast and when my body says "Feed me, Seymour!" Is there a better alternative?
So instead of the three meals a day plan, what about grazing?
Some people will say grazing eating habits are better for you, so you're not stuffing your body with 700 calories all at once. That's also referred to as the afternoon crash made popular by people in offices everywhere. And "5-Hour Energy" is making millions off of it.
This article intelligently describes why "grazing" may be good for you. Instead of eating one big meal at lunch, space the same amount of food over two or three snack size "meals." Don't eat the empty calorie snacks, but eat foods you would normally eat at lunch. Make sure you're not eating snack food, like chips or cookies.
But, back to the original question? Why am I getting hungry so quickly? Everything I see says a morning workout will help to curb your appetite. Well that's fine and dandy for everyone else not named Jeremy. So why me? Is my body going into calorie shock from being used to 700 carbs for breakfast (post workout) to 300?
This mornings weigh-in was near 288.5, so I seem to be maintaining well below the 292-293 I was stuck at from October to December. But alas, that is not the goal.
No soda for a year is going well. Today marks one week. Baby steps, right?
