Political Links

The only thing left to do after the election results have been counted is to count the bodies. Unless you're Barack Obama. You don't say you're colleagues got taken behind the woodshed, but there was a simple misunderstanding between results and voter disgust.

some sports links

Since the MLB season is officially closed until April, I thought it would be appropriate to come up with an All Star salary team. You know, the guys that get paid Ferrari money, and end up being a 1982 Datsun. Hey, Chicago, you won something!

The Miami Heat are going to figure it out. Sure, they looked out of sync game one against Boston, but since then, they've looked Championship bound.

Week 8 Picks In Review:
"Some of these weren't very smart. Let's take a look."

It's Already Winter in Minnesota
Anyone who has followed the NFL over the last 20 seasons knows that there is one quarterback out there that will do what it takes to win. He will zip the ball on a rope to that one spot in the end zone that only his guy can catch it. He'll scramble out of the pocket, get caught from behind, and inevitably toss it and complete it. To the other team. He goes by many names. Some call him the "Ol Gunslinger." Some call him #4. If you're Frank Caliendo, you call him "BrettFavreBrettFavreBrettFavre." If you're a fan of a team he is quarterbacking, you have lived and died by the Favre.

Week 9 Rankings
The #1 ranked team has lost the last three weeks in row. Not in my poll, because I'm smarter than that. Although I did have 'Bama ranked #1, I had Ohio St at #4 before they got beat, and I haven't had Oklahoma ranked in the top 10 once. Looking at last week's poll, every one of my top 10 teams won. The only difference in this week and last week's top 10 is flipping Utah and Michigan St. On with the poll!

New Articles on the Sports Blog

A Bunch of Reasons to Outlaw the Preseason NCAA Football Poll:
A whole bunch of teams were ranked in the preseason poll. Then a whole bunch of other teams were ranked. And were only 5 weeks into the season.

Week 6 Rankings:
Alabama is still #1. Lots of media people making noise about Oregon jumping Boise St in the AP Poll. Guess who beat 'em to it?

Lessons From Week 5:
We learned a few things this weekend, like Miami probably isn't as good as advertised. And ECU has the 2009 season on repeat. And a little info about every one's favorite Heisman candidate, Shoelace!

Product Review: Scotch-Brite Soap Dispensing Dishwand

Product Review Time!

This weeks contestant: The Scotch-Brite Soap Dispensing Dishwand, by 3M

Official website

This little thing here may look all warm and fuzzy on the outside, but beware the terrors that lurk beneath. I mean, it's made by Scotch-Brite (and they even spell Brite all cutesy-like), which is a 3M company.

The dishwand is designed to hold soap within the wand and dispense the soap through the sponge upon scrubbing. If you look at the picture to the left, you will see the big blue dot in the middle. It's actually a plug that acts like a pump, or a primer (see lawnmowers, human-powered). I assume that is maintain some sort of pressure on the soap.

The Good: The scrubbing brush at the end provides a great tool to wash dishes without the use of a worn-out, dingy dish rag. With the soap being constantly present within the the brush, it stays clean. Another
advantage of the dishwand is that the brushes on the end are replaceable. You don't have to buy a whole new wand, just the replacement pads. Sounds easy, sign me up!

The Bad: Ugh, where to begin. There isn't too much, honestly. Just. One. Major. Design. Flaw. The blue bulb. If you're washing a glass or cup, and the bulb pops out, just throw it away. It's designed to come out, I guess. But once it comes out, it will not stay in for nothing. You can't even pay it to stay in. And the way it's designed, it does not fit easily into cups. The lip of the cup usually scrapes at the bottom of the bulb, popping it out of place, and making it a hassle to use forevermore. And since the bulb can easily pop out, soap can leak ou - errrr, pour out easily. And that is a major design flaw.

My wife loves these things. Every time one breaks, she'll go buy another one. And the next one will do the same thing. It's guaranteed to break, like the sun rising.

My opinion: Don't buy it.

The bashing really must end at some point

Since the President Obama took office, we have been inundated with Bush Bashing about the economy, the Afghan and Iraq" conflicts, and the economy some more. It's getting (or got) old really fast.

And now former President Clinton made some statements today about former independent counsel Kenneth Starr who has been keeping a low profile since the impeachment proceedings thankfully came to an end some years ago. Well, it seems that Clinton still has a score to settle.

According to a Foxnews.com article, Clinton said '“No serious, objective observer doubts that there was rampant, flagrant abuse of power” in those probes, Clinton said, adding that “a lot of the people who should have been commenting on it were stunningly silent.”'

Wether or not one agrees with how Starr did his investigating or his questioning, it was at least 8 years ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Starr has moved on and just recently accepted the position of President at Baylor University. Clinton hasn't accepted any new position (like he needs to anyway) and still enjoys his celebrity status. But he should move on.

It's understandable that we all might harbor grudges, but it's a much better person that can forgive and move on. It's classless to keep blaming others and bringing up old scores that are, for the most part, settled.
